Ms. Semanchik graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania with a duel degree in health and physical education and obtained three minors in coaching, community health and sports/exercise psychology. After graduation Ms. Semanchik had the opportunity to teach at a high school level where she taught health, physical education, wellness and drivers education. She also coached women's and men's fencing, women’s lacrosse and earned a certification in personal training.
She then had the opportunity to move down to West Virginia to work as a Graduate Assistant for West Virginia University to obtain a Masters degree in physical education/teacher education. Her duties as a Graduate Assistant entailed supervising undergraduate teachers, research and development within the field of physical education, and working within the university’s laboratory school as a full time elementary physical education teacher and assistant coach for a program called “Girls on the Run." Ms. Semanchik then moved back to New Jersey where she has now been a teacher at Alexandra Middle School for eight years and a teacher at Lester D. Wilson for five years! Ms. Semanchik has also worked to push her teaching even farther by taking a position at Raritan Valley Community College for the past five years as an Adjunct Professor. So weather its pre-school or even a college level, she hopes to bring more opportunities for the students to learn about fitness and sports concepts, the application of physical activity in everyday life as a life long goal, all areas of health education and overall achievement towards a healthy life and high academic success.
