    Below are some of the courses offered by the Music Department 
    The Music Department is also an integral part of Del Val's Fine and Performing Arts Academy!
     
     

    CURRICULAR COURSE OFFERINGS (Fulfills the Fine Arts requirement) 

    Concert Choir – A curricular course for students interested in performing vocal music and enhancing their vocal abilities

    Concert Band – This curricular course plays symphonic wind band music each day during school. This course fulfills a fine art requirement

    Intro to Theory and Composition – This course is a year-long, comprehensive study of many aspects of music including theory, history, and piano skills.

    AP Music Theory – College level course designed to introduce students to intense studies in music theory. Throughout this course, students will analyze and write music, and engage in high-level music activities such as dictation, sight-reading, and ear-training.

    Vox Auri – This is the premier auditioned choral ensemble at Del Val. Students in this ensemble will have many performance opportunities outside of the school concerts. Students interested in this ensemble must audition with the teacher.

    CO-CURRICULAR OFFERINGS

    Jazz Band – This after school, auditioned ensemble that meets from December through June. This is one of Del Val’s most elite ensembles! 

    Vox Blue - A Cappella Choir is open to any student at Del Val interested in singing A Cappella music. The group will be featured in all concerts, and have extra opportunities to perform throughout the school year. The A Cappella choir rehearses on Thursdays from 5:00 – 6:15 p.m.

    Marching Band – Our most popular ensemble in the whole school that meets from August through November. Students love the overnight band camp, the weekend competitions, the dedication, and the fruits of their hard work in this intense but most rewarding music program.

    Indoor Drumline – A competitive group of percussionists rehearses each week after school to compete locally as they perfect their show of percussive excellence!

    Pit Orchestra (for the musical) – Instrumentalists from all walks of music participate in providing musical accompaniment for the actors onstage. Each year this is one of Del Val’s most successful programs.
