Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Emily Canavan

I grew up right here in Alexandria and returned to the Hunterdon County area after living across the river in Pennsylvania for several years. My undergraduate work was completed at the University of Scranton where I majored in elementary education. After working in education for several years and then taking time off to raise my boys, I returned to school and worked through a graduate program at Cedar Crest College in Lehigh Valley where I earned my special education teaching certificate and master's degree. I have worked in the Alexandria School District as a fourth grade teacher for 5 years, co-taught in third grade last year, and am now looking forward to returning to the 4th grade team for the 2022-2023 school year.

I live nearby in Holland Township, and you may even know my boys (Brayden and Kellen) from sports or community events. Outside of school, I am usually busy running around to different activities or working on whichever project has caught my attention at the moment (which involves a LOT of research, problem-solving, building, and learning), but I also enjoy spending time hiking/exploring/camping, horseback riding, reading, traveling, working/playing with the boys or the animals, and spending time with friends and family. The hobbies that I am currently enjoying and working on most are horse and camping related, but who knows what will come next!?
