Track & Field 2016 Coaches Assistant Coaches Jeremy Mearling Greg Smith Carlos Webster | Bill Petty - A teacher for 32 years, 30 at Del Val, Bill retired from coaching after the fall season in 1992 and retired from teaching in 1993. Because of his passion for coaching, he returned in 2004-2005 as Girls JV Basketball Coach. Since 2006, he has been a Substitute Teacher. In 2007, he became Assistant Boys Track & Field Coach. In 2008, Petty took over as the Girls Head Track & Field Coach. He started coaching in 1965 and has coached both Boys and Girls Track & Field as Assistant and Head Coach, Boys and Girls basketball at the JV and Freshman level, and Boys and Girls Cross Country as Head Coach. In Cross County over a 23year period, his overall record was 229 wins and 84 losses. Two undefeated teams in 1974 and 1975 went 32-0. The undefeated team in 1986 was 16-0. Petty's Cross Country teams qualified for State Tournament action 9 times, winning 3 Sectional Group I or Group II titles. He also had a streak of 10 conference titles, 8 straight, in the Delaware River Conference and in 1992, his last season, a Raritan Division title in the Skyland Conference. An Express-Times article in January of 2008 said Petty was so highly respected as a Cross Country coach that the 'Petty Fun Run', which kicks off the Cross Country season for the Hunterdon and Warren County teams, was named in his honor. In Track & Field, Petty has coached more than 20 years as Assistant and Head Coach. As Head Coach he had 3 consecutive girls conference titles in 1983, 1984, and 1985 and was the Head Boys Coach when the only boys title was achieved in 1988. In 1983 Petty was honored by the New Jersey Interscholastic Coaches Association (NJICA), the predecessor of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). In 1983, Coach Petty was inducted into the NJ Coaches Hall of Fame in Cross Country. In 1993, he was named Skyland
Conference Coach of the Year. |

Coach . When I was in high school, I began running and was part of the cross country and track teams. After high school, I continued running because it is a true passion of mine. I often participate in races of all distances ranging from 5K's to Half Marathons. I am very excited for this year's season. | | Jason Farnsworth - Jason begins his 7th year as an Assistant Track & Field Coach, and his 2nd as the Boys Head Coach. He has also served as Freshmen football. Prior to that he was the Boys and Girls Cross Country Head Coach at Warren Hills where he also served as an Assistant Coach for the Track & Field team. Jason has been coaching high school sports for 7 years. He attended York High School in York, PA and completed his college degree at Kutztown University in 1998. Jason is employed as an Art teacher by the Hunterdon Educational Services Commission.

| Carlos Webster - Carlos enters Delaware Valley's coaching ranks having decades of experience in several phases and levels of athletics. A 29 year Alexandria resident, Carlos coached and supported the community feeder programs in Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, and Track & Field. He also proudly umpired baseball and softball within the DVAA organization, officiated basketball locally, and for 6 years judged Del Val Track & Field meets. Carlos brings Track & Field knowledge and enthusiasm stemming from a high school career in Louisville, KY where he competed as a sprinter and jumper. He remained active in Track & Field while attending Western Kentucky Univerisity. "Every Spring season rekindles that Track & Field spirit in me." Carlos has taught and inspired in Business, Technology and Communications subjects at Delaware Valley the last 10 years. |
