Grading and Homework
Students are expected to come to class prepared every day with a charged iPad, headphones, pencils, a notebook, and an independent reading book. One point will be deducted each day for students who do not meet these requirements.
Assignments will be discussed in class and posted on the board and on Canvas. Homework is expected to be returned on time. Students will be given one day to make up missing work, and will receive a point deduction for late assignments. Assignments missing after that will not be accepted and given a zero. If a student is absent, he/she will be given the same number of days absent to make up the work for full credit. I typically do not assign homework on the weekends.
Student grades will be determined using a total points grading system. All assignments will be given a point value. Final grades will be determined using points earned out of total points possible. The Middle School grading scale is as follows:
At the end of each marking period, students who achieve at least an 83% in all Core Curriculum Subjects as determined by the State of New Jersey, shall be named to the Honor Roll. Those students who achieve at least a 93% in all Core Curriculum Subjects as determined by the State of New Jersey shall be named to the High Honor Roll.
