    Meet the Director of Choral Activities:

    Mr. Adrian Camano

    Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education

    The College of New Jersey '22

    Mr. Camano is a vocal music educator with a passion for building human connection and community through teaching students vocal music. He recently graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education and holds a NJ Music Certification of Eligibility with Advanced Standing. 

    Mr. Camano's philosophy of teaching is grounded in the belief that students should be educated using a holistic approach that focuses on supporting and cultivating all areas of their development, from social and emotional to cognitive skills. Mr. Camano believes that the choral classroom is a place where students of all different backgrounds gather to contribute their voices, bodies, minds, and hearts to create a communal and enjoyable shared musical experience.

    Mr. Camano is very excited to be joining the Del Val community and looks forward to meeting and getting to know the students in the choral program throughout the year.

    Co-Curricular Vocal Ensembles

    Treble in Paradise (formerly Soprano/Alto)

    Treble in Paradise is a treble voice a cappella ensemble. Students must audition for the purposes of assessing vocal range, tone quality, and musicianship skills. All students that audition will participate in the ensemble. This ensemble covers contemporary music of different genres in the style of a cappella, or singing without any instrumental accompaniment. This ensemble performs at the Annual Winter Concert, District Arts Festival, and Spring Concert, and currently meets once a week on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00pm and select Unit Lunch periods. In order to join, students must audition at the beginning of the year.

    Tenor/Bass (new name coming soon!)

    Tenor/Bass is a tenor/bass voice a cappella ensemble. Students must audition for the purposes of assessing vocal range, tone quality, and musicianship skills. All students that audition will participate in the ensemble. This ensemble covers contemporary music of different genres, including barbershop, in the style of a cappella, or singing without any instrumental accompaniment. This ensemble performs at the Annual Winter Concert, District Arts Festival, and Spring Concert, and currently meets once a week on Mondays from 5:00-6:00pm and select Unit Lunch periods. In order to join, students must audition at the beginning of the year.

    Vox Blue (“Blue Voice”)

    Vox Blue is an auditioned competitive a cappella ensemble. Students must pass an audition that will assess their vocal range, tone quality, and musicianship skills. This ensemble is reserved for experienced choral musicians that are willing to make a commitment to musical excellence. Due to competition eligibility requirements, the ensemble must consist of 18 members or less. In order to determine those who qualify for the ensemble, students will be assessed by a rubric and will need to attain a certain score in order to be accepted into the ensemble. 

    This ensemble covers contemporary music of different genres, in the style of a cappella, or singing without any instrumental accompaniment, with an emphasis on competing in local, state, national, and international a cappella competitions. Hosted by Varsity Vocals, Vox Blue competes annually in the International Championship of High School A Cappella every spring. This competition is the high school version of the competition from the movie Pitch Perfect!. This ensemble performs at the Annual Winter Concert, District Arts Festival, and Spring Concert, as well as additional performances as they become available to the director. This ensemble meets once a week on Thursdays from 5:00-8:00pm, in addition to extra rehearsals as needed and select Unit Lunch periods. In order to join, students must audition at the beginning of the year.
