• Performing is an important part of any musician's life. Frenchtwon has 2 performing ensembles, the Concert Band and the Chorus. Students may participate in more than one ensemble. 

    In addition to music specific skills, students involved in the musical program develop key life skills such as:

    • Learning to work as a team towards a common goal
    • Improving concentration and focus in a variety of settings
    • Organizational skills
    • Reading and listening skills
    • Social skills
    • Study skills
    • Personal discipline
    • Respect for self and others
    • Gain self-esteem/confidence through a constant cycle of work and reward
     
     
    Frenchtown Chorus:
    Chorus is open to any student in 4th through 8th grade. The chorus performs a variety of music from traditional and classical music, to jazz and contemporary selections and rehearses once a week on Tuesdays during recess time. Typically, the chorus performs 3 times during the school year.  Students are expected to attend all performances. Concert attire is black dress pants or skirt, white dress top and dress shoes.
    Concert dates are:
    • Winter Concert is TBD
    • Spring Concert is TBD
    • Choral Festival at the High School TBD in March

     
    BAND
     Band is open to any student in 4th through 8th grade and is divided into two sections: Beginning Band and Concert Band.  Students in grades 4-5 comprise the Beginning Band, while the Concert Band includes students in Middle School. 
     
    Frenchtown Beginning Band:
    Beginning band students in grades 4 and 5 may choose to learn one of the following instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion-bells and/or drums.  Students receive one group lesson a week and are encouraged to perform in the Spring Concert.
     
    Frenchtown Concert Band:
    The Concert Band perform a variety of music from traditional marches and classical music, to jazz and contemporary selections. The Concert Band rehearses once a week and students receive a weekly small-group lesson at mutually agreed upon time. Typically, the Concert Band performs 3 times during the school year. Students are expected to attend all performances.

    • Band Festival at the High School TBD in March.
