Heather Fleischman is an alumnus of DVRHS (2006) and a graduate of DeSales University (2010) with a BA in Dance. DeSales afforded Heather the opportunity to be a part of the re-staging of many historic pieces of choreography. One of the highlights of her collegiate career was being cast as a soloist in Alwin Nikolais’ highly praised work, Tensile Involvement. During the re-staging of this groundbreaking piece, she worked one on one with Alberto “Tito” del Saz to perfect the solo's intention. The re-staging of Twyla Tharp’s, The One Hundreds (1-50), was another eye-opening and challenging process to delve into. After graduation, she danced professionally with Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre (NYC) and MM2 Modern Dance Company (Philadelphia). While at MM2 she danced and choreographed, presenting original work locally; Grounds For Sculpture, CHI Movement Studio, and PhillyFringe, to name a few, as well as, touring internationally in Canada and Italy. For the past seven years, Heather has also been on the dance faculty at a private studio in Lopatcong, NJ.
This will be her third year as a member of the DVRHS teaching staff, for the past eight years you may have noticed her previously as a part of the DVRHS community either in the Theatre, as the Choreographer for the musicals or on the Football Field as the Color Guard Director (2012-2017). She is looking forward to continue growing the dance program at DVRHS and cannot wait to share her love of dance; its art, history, and creation with the students on a more regular basis.
