The Senior Practicum Program provides eligible seniors with the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom through college coursework, internships, or other approved educational opportunities.
Participants gain valuable real-world experience while developing the skills and knowledge needed for success after graduation.

Practicum Pathways
Students may select one of the following approved pathways:
Option 1: Internship
Overview
Students gain on-the-job experience in a career area of interest by working directly with professionals in the field.
Details
Commitment: Minimum of 3–6 hours of work per week
Grading: Pass/Fail
Enrollment: Participation is by semester
Option 2: College Experience
Overview
Students enroll in a college course at a community college or 4-year institution to explore post-secondary education opportunities and earn college credit.
Details
Students must complete at least one college-level course per semester
Transportation to on-campus classes is the student’s responsibility
Students are responsible for tuition and all related expenses
Courses must be pre-approved by the program coordinator prior to registration
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 20 credits at DelVal
Credit is awarded upon successful completion and submission of an official college transcript
Grading: Pass/Fail
Requirements for Both Options
All Senior Practicum students must:
Attend monthly check-ins with the program coordinator during unit lunch (25 minutes)
Complete all assigned tasks, reflections, and program requirements
Communicate professionally with supervisors, instructors, and the program coordinator
Represent Delaware Valley Regional High School in a positive and professional manner

Professional appearance and behavior are essential for success in any practicum setting.

Closed-toe shoes when required
Follow workplace or college dress expectations

Inappropriate graphics or wording

Arrive early (10–15 minutes ahead of time)
Maintain eye contact and positive body language
Offer a firm handshake when appropriate

Stay off your phone during work or class time

Applicants must:
Be a senior in good academic standing
Demonstrate responsible attendance
Maintain satisfactory discipline
Have parent/guardian approval
Have counselor and administrative approval
Provide reliable transportation

Can I switch pathways after starting?
Changes may be considered on a case-by-case basis with coordinator approval.
Is transportation provided?
No. Students are responsible for their own transportation.
Can I be paid for an internship?
Some internships are paid; others are unpaid depending on the employer.
Do college courses count toward graduation credit?
No. College courses taken as part of the Senior Practicum do not fulfill Delaware Valley Regional High School graduation requirements. These courses are intended to provide enrichment and early college experience.
Students are encouraged to carefully review the transferability of credits with the college or university they plan to attend after graduation, as credit acceptance varies by institution.
What happens if I don’t meet expectations?
Students who do not meet academic, attendance, or professional expectations may be removed from the program.
